Neighbourhood Update

Hello Resident. I hope you’re doing well.

I am Police Community Support Officer Ben Priest here to give you the weekly Neighbour Hood Update.

What has our team been doing?

The local team attended Holloway Hall on the 3rd of August for our monthly Cuppa with a Coppa where we spoke to residents and offered advice on issues they may have in their area, or any general concerns they have what we can address and provide advice on. We were also able to hand out some crime prevention devices what can help reduce crime.

Members of our team have then been fed back the reports and information from residents who attended Holloway Hall back on the 3rd of August. So that our team can then attended the locations reported to us, and addressed any matters what were present in a according manner. And even taking action when necessary to get a positive outcome. Helping to tidy up the community and keep it that little bit safer.

What’s been occurring in Bartley Green

Since the last WMNOW message, our team as well as the other neighbourhood teams that make up the Edgbaston Constituency. That being Bartley Green NHT, Quinton NHT, Harborne NHT and Edgbaston NHT. Have seen a rise in theft of credit cards. Especially at cash points what are accessible to the public. This is done by distracting the victims where the offenders will start a conversation or ask questions, distracting the victim long enough and well enough, for the offender to then grab the card from the machine without the victim noticing. We advise that if you do use a cash machine, you check your surroundings and that you always keep a clear view of your card, and if someone try’s speaking to you while at the machine, you keep your back turned towards them still looking at the machine.

We encourage residents to register their home/business CCTV and doorbell cameras, as this helps us to solve crimes and get a positive outcome, as your CCTV cameras can provide us the appropriate footage what captures the crime in question. This helps us solves crimes but also helps to keep your community safer.
